KUALA LUMPUR: Mobile healthcare services company UCrest Sdn Bhd has entered into a business partnership agreement with MDC Asia Link Bhd to digitalise the latter’s dental clinic chain with artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT).
UCrest chairman Eg Kah Yee said the agreement was for a five-year period where it would customise and enhance the technology provided in meeting the requirement in dental services.
“MDC will adopt the iMedic platform as the clinic management system (CMS). iMedic will be used to manage the patients whereby they are empowered with the mobile app, allowing them to track the related vital signs, biomarkers and lifestyle that can affect oral health and manage their dental care plan.
“All medical records including X-ray images will be uploaded and accessible by the patients any time, any place,” he told a press conference here today.
MDC, which has 25 dental clinics largely in the Klang Valley area, is one of the largest dental clinic chains in the country with special focus on paediatric dental care for children in addition to its general dentistry and orthodontic services.
Through the collaboration, MDC will adopt the use of three-dimensional (3D) printing in the clinics to provide higher quality dental products to its customers and the machine learning of AI technologies in iMedic will help to analyse and diagnose images easily and more accurately.
MDC also intends to deploy fundus camera with AILab from UCrest in the clinics connecting to ophthalmologist to provide non-invasion diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy so that patients can seek diabetic treatment while treating the periodontal diseases.
Meanwhile, MDC chief executive officer Dr Aslan Bacho said with iMedic platform, the dentist and health consultants would be able to develop a personalised dental health plan for each of the customers and proactively manage and service them.
“We are leading the transformation of dental care services with the use of AI, IoMT, 3D printing and digital technologies to provide our customers with the highest level of care and services while improving the clinic operation efficiency,” he said.
Aslan also expressed hope that the collaboration between MDC and UCrest would accelerate its plan to be listed on Bursa Malaysia.
“We have been planning for the initial public offering, but it has been a bit delayed (to improve) the business model and adopt digitalisation. We are aware that with only the clinics themselves without integrated digitalisation, it would be difficult to compete in the healthcare industry.
“Hopefully, with this collaboration, it will accelerate the process,” said Aslan, adding that the company aims to be listed on Bursa Malaysia by 2026. – Bernama
