Long-serving MTBC president Datuk Dr Nathan calls it a day

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr P.S. Nathan is relinquishing his post at the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Confederation (MTBC) president after 50 years of leading the association.

The founder of the congress officially announced his retirement at MTBC’s 50th anniversary banquet dinner at the Sunway Hotel and Resort in Bandar Sunway here on Sunday (May 5).

“This will be my last speech as president. I am passing it over to my deputy president, who will take over from here,” said the 90-year-old Nathan.

“It’s been a long 50 years of struggle and happiness. Struggled with the ministry to recognise us as a sport because we were considered a parlour game.

“Now we are a full sport and I’m desperately trying to get it in as an Olympic sport, but that will be a long battle for the incoming president and his group.”

Nathan is the longest-serving sports association president in the nation.

He now has passed the baton to deputy president Datuk Mohd Najeeb Abdullah.
