KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd ’s (HEB) wholly owned subsidiary HSS Engineers Sdn Bhd (HSSE) has secured a US$3.2mil (RM15mil) contract Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
HEB, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, said HSSE’s scope of services to provide technical support and consultancy services to the client on all technical aspects related to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Project.
The expressway will have a total length of 135.1 km, linking the Cambodian capital to the Cambodia-Vietnam border crossing in Bavet, Svay Rieng Province.
Upon completion, the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway will be the kingdom’s second expressway, after the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway which opened in 2022.
“This contract will help us leverage our extensive engineering consultancy experience from Malaysian projects to expand into the Indochinese nations of Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.
“We are targeting 25% of our revenue to come from overseas ventures in the next five years,” executive vice chairman Tan Sri Ir. Kuna Sittampalam said in a statement.
The four-year contract commences in June 2024 and is expected to contribute positively to the group’s financial performance in the financial year ending Dec 31, 2024 till 2028.
