KUALA LUMPUR: Engineering and project management consultant HSS Engineers Bhd (HEB) is expanding internationally and aims to rake in 25 per cent of its turnover from overseas ventures by 2027.
In a statement today, executive vice-chairman Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam said the group is keen on deploying its expertise in infrastructure engineering in developing economies in the ASEAN region, the Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia.
“We are encouraged by the policies of governments across the region to promote sustainable economic growth through strategic infrastructure projects.
“On the domestic front, we are optimistic about the accelerated implementation of mega projects in Malaysia and the subsequent contract awards, with the government’s call to expedite high-impact projects,” he said.
Kuna added that the group is eager to capitalise on the projected growth and further solidify its standing as the nation’s Central Digital Data Depository for transportation, water, rail, and highways.
This year, HEB has secured a consultancy services contract for the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Project worth RM15.0 million in Cambodia.
In Indonesia, the group acquired a 12 percent stake in PT Oriental Consultants Indonesia as part of its regional expansion plan.
HEB has also forged preferred partnerships with leading Japanese engineering consultancies to facilitate its overseas expansion, resulting in two significant wins in financial year 2023.
It had also signed a contract to provide project management consultancy for the Jakarta Light Rail Transit in collaboration with Japan-based Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd.
Additionally, the group secured a consulting and technical services contract for the Railway Connectivity Improvement Preparatory Facility Project in Bangladesh in partnership with OC Global and France’s EGIS Rail S.A.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, HEB Group established HSS-EDCOP, a joint venture with Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP) to provide advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) services and solutions to the Philippines’ market. – Bernama
