Google Photos is making its smart editing tools available to everyone

Several AI-powered editing tools in the Google Photos app are about to be made available to everyone, free of charge. This move will give all users of the app the ability to easily correct a range of flaws in their photos.

Good news for anyone who uses Google Photos: they’ll soon be able to use, free of charge, a range of highly innovative image-editing tools powered by artificial intelligence. Previously available only to Pixel owners, Google’s AI-powered photo editing tools will now be available to everyone.

They will be rolled out progressively as of May 15 and over the following weeks on all technically compatible Android and iOS devices, with no subscription required to enjoy them.

These “smart” tools make it easy for amateur photographers to improve their pics without any special skills. The anti-blur feature, for example, is very useful for eliminating less-than-clear parts from your photos, whether portrait or landscape, to enhance clarity. The Magic Eraser, on the other hand, lets you erase any unwelcome elements – even photobombers – in a matter of seconds.

Finally, Portrait Lighting, as the name suggests, is a tool for adjusting the brightness on faces. All these features, powered by AI, are designed to help us make our images usable so we don’t feel the need to delete those that are less than pleasing.

Meanwhile, the Magic Editor tool, launched exclusively on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, will soon be offered to all Pixel smartphone users. This tool enables users to carry out more complex photo editing, such as moving and repositioning an element in the photo, or changing the color of the sky.

Google Photos users will benefit from 10 Magic Editor backups per month. Beyond that, they will need to subscribe to a paid Google One package, or own a Pixel smartphone. – AFP Relaxnews
