PETALING JAYA: Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd has been awarded a contract worth RM252.26mil from WCT Holdings Bhd , bringing its total construction order book to RM1.2bil.
Fajarbaru said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Fajarbaru Builder Sdn Bhd, had accepted a letter of award dated April 22, 2024 from WCT Construction Sdn Bhd (WCTC), an indirect subsidiary of WCT Holdings Bhd, for the contract.
“The job involves construction works for main building works (Section 1: Phase 1) of an upcoming two-phase development project.
“This project comprises two blocks of serviced apartments spread across eight towers totalling 2,048 residential units and 69 commercial units located in Johor Baru, Johor,” it said in a statement.
Fajarbaru said the contract will commence on May 6, 2024 and is scheduled to be completed on May 5, 2027.
“Section 2: Phase 2 of the same project is subject to confirmation of award by WCTC and the group expects a decision within the next 12 months.
“The group will make the relevant announcement as and when there is confirmation of the award,” it said.
In the same statement, Fajarbaru group executive chairman Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy noted that the group had secured another major contract from WCT, one of Malaysia’s leading construction and development groups.
“This job is one of Fajarbaru’s biggest contract wins year-to-date and brings our order book of ongoing projects to over a billion ringgit.
“Securing this job reaffirms our position as a trusted construction partner for major real estate developers such as WCT.”
Chan said the group will work closely with WCT to ensure the success of the project. “We believe our focus on value-add and exceptional results will enable us to further expand our involvement in this real estate development.”
In March 2023, Fajarbaru secured a RM310.54mil construction contract from WCT’s indirect subsidiary, Kekal Kirana Sdn Bhd.
The project commenced on March 15, 2023 and is expected to be completed by Feb 14, 2026.
Fajarbaru is involved in a wide range of construction projects including high-rise residential buildings, affordable apartments, retail complexes, serviced apartments and the redevelopment of military facilities.
In March 2024, Fajarbaru secured a contract worth RM120.82mil for construction works for the Johor Golf and Country Club, marking the group’s inaugural venture into Johor.
Fajarbaru is currently tendering for construction projects with an approximate value of RM5bil across private and government sectors.
“The group continues extending its project portfolio across diverse regions ranging from Penang to the East Coast, Klang Valley and southern states in Peninsular Malaysia,” it said.
