KUALA LUMPUR: Citi Malaysia has partnered with IDEAS Autism Centre Rawang (IAC), Buku Jalanan Chow Kit (BJCK), Persatuan Komuniti Istimewa Ampang (SCSOA) and The Financial Industry Collective Outreach (FINCO) for its annual Global Community Day.
In a statement, the bank said over 500 Citi Malaysia employees, their friends and families volunteered at this annual tradition joining thousands of others for this worldwide community engagement.
Citi volunteers assisted in educational and recreational activities with autistic and special needs children from IAC and SCSOA, tutored Mathematic lessons at BJCK, engaged in community clean-ups with all NGOs and organized a book drive event with FINCO.
Citi Malaysia CEO Vikram Singh said: “Global Community Day is an excellent opportunity for our Citi volunteers to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. I am very passionate about philanthropy and especially towards underprivileged children.”
“It was heartwarming to see Citi volunteers come together to support special needs as well as stateless children with our partner NGOs,” he added.
This year, the firm, in partnership with FINCO, donated repurposed desktops and monitors to underserved schools in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
In addition, Citi volunteers successfully fundraised and donated TVs, android tablets, books and bookshelves, food supplies, daily essentials, and household appliances to the NGOs.
